You mean like this little ole thing:

THANK you @TIME for the STAGGERINGLY GREAT honor of being named to the TIME100---the 100 Most Influential People of 2024.

This is a tribute to every survivor in the country!

Lordy, E. Jean Carroll is one tough-as-nails broad, ain't she? This woman from the buttoned-up "silent generation" had the unbelievable moxie to rip that gag off and let it all hang out about her experiences. That's what the whole #MeToo movement was really supposed to be about - not just taking down some high and mighty big shot, but women freeing themselves from the suffocating silence.

And E. Jean didn't just free herself with those brutally honest disclosures. Nah, she freed millions of other women too by showing what real courage looks like in the face of intimidation. This lady's moves have been nothing short of heroic from start to finish.

We love putting women up on a pedestal for a hot minute, praising them for their sacrifices in telling their hard truths out loud. But we're so quick to tear them back down and move on to the next shiny bauble too. Not possible with the tenacious E. Jean though. Her strength, her refusal to shut her trap and go away - that's something we need to flat out bow down to.

She's added her name to that long, hallowed list of women who had to put their wellbeing on the line simply because they refused to be silent victims anymore. Hoping that maybe, just maybe, their voices would finally spark enough outrage to change this messed up reality we live in.

But here's the thing - fighting for justice and ending this darn epidemic of violence and harassment? That was never E. Jean's "job" to begin with. Her only job was surviving. So while we're thanking her for her insane perseverance, maybe we should also figure out how to tangibly make this country safer for women. Paying it forward by doing more than just lauding her courage with empty lip service.

E. Jean Carroll is a modern day hero precisely because she had the grit to do what so many before her could not. Now it's on us to honor that badass energy by actually creating the change she kicked open the door for.

I worked hard, putting myself through school. Twice. But, I felt dejected. The universities were not Ivy League, my jobs were hard, and I felt disappointed in myself. When I met my husband, he told me, frequently, how proud he was of my accomplishments. This continues to this day, thirty three years later. So, I don't toot my horn, but he does. That works for me.

When people ask me what I do, I give them my Amazon URL and let the page speak for me.

(Yes, I just bragged! Completely shamelessly!! The new book will be released 60 days from today! Writers who don't brag wherever possible and as shamelessly as possible probably aren't paying their bills.)

Congratulations, E. Jean. No one deserves that honor more than you. It's something to brag about and Time has done it for you, so you can nod graciously and smile your radiant smile.

I don't have much to brag about these days and that's by choice. I've thoroughly enjoyed retreating into retirement from saving the world. I love my quiet lifestyle.

Congrats, E Jean! No one deserves that honor more.

I don't brag much because I've having a hard time looking back from age 64 and thinking that I haven't done much with my life in the "who have you helped/had meaningful work" category, (although I will brag about my amazing daughter that I raised alone). I've just always been one of the background supporting players. I know the world doesn't go around without us, but still.... Given better circumstances I think I would have been a pretty good Constitutional attorney. I'm taking free classes to scratch that itch, though.

But I will say I do have pretty amazing knitting skills, so at least I can keep everyone warm if you gardeners will feed me when the zombie apocalypse arrives.

I brag constantly about one thing: That I know E. Jean Carroll, and am part of her Conflab. When my adult daughters are visiting, sometimes I come downstairs a few minutes late, and say, "sorry, I was just posting something on my pal and fellow Substacker E. Jean Carroll's thread."

Brought up in a church that preached continuously about pride and God opposing the proud, I never bragged. Who invites God to oppose them? However, not learning how to "toot your own horn," can lead to resentment. I get an oversized bad attitude when my predictions or advice proves to be spot on but not one person will say "you were right." Or with my husband, I would fish for a compliment in a most manipulative manner. Yuk. Hope someone comments on a direct way to boast other than "I told you so."

Going to brag right here, right now! A few years ago, I started following Max Out in the Lake District on FB. It is about a man, Kerry Irving, who walks his Springer spaniels (then, Max, Paddy, and Harry) in the English Lake District. I found the page by chance during lockdown since we are huge fans of Springers. At any rate, we've since then met Kerry several times and have become huge fans of the Lake District as well as of his dogs. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Kerry was on an 84-mile trek along Hadrian's Wall with a goal of finishing in 48 hours as a fundraiser for a charity we also support. We made plans to go to cheer him on at the finish. Our mutual friend is one of the lead fundraising professionals for the charity, and when she found out the BBC was looking for someone to interview at the finish line, she recommended us for the segment. And so dear E. Jean, we have now been on the BBC's equivalent of The Today Show! May not seem a lot to those of you who are in the media continually, but for us, it was really pretty amazing. Kerry has a huge following around the world, and we've heard from a slew of them about our interview. (PS He has just had his second book published, we're referenced in it, not by name, but we know it's us. The book has just reached #1 in the Sunday Times Best Sellers' List after 2 weeks. I'll brag for him.)

As some of you know, I am desperate for a job so yeah. I try to loudly tout my wares (in the non-prostitutiorial sense) (and yes, I know..."prostitutorial" isn't an actual word, but please. Let me brag about inventing it and invite you to use it, if the shoe fits...in a non-prostitutorial way, of course...unless you're a prostitute, in which case I suppose everything you do is prostitutorial in a way. Right? You should brag about THAT, Stormy.
