Like stinky fart who's smell lingers.

My thoughts exactly and his mates just used him and threw him out too. Now ask what I would pay to get rid of Musk, Vance, Trump and the whole confederacy of dunces and that would be a whole different story.

Expand full comment

I am game, Dina: What would you pay to get rid of the "confederacy of dunces?"

Expand full comment

We shouldn't have to pay to be rid of them, but I guess our nation has a long-standing history of paying others to take out our trash.

I've been paying taxes to the democracy for 40 years. We've funded the whole blasted thing and all the crimes against humanity time and time again. Enough. May they see themselves out and suffer all of their days.

I'm un-paying, as in cancelling subscriptions. I'm giving myself a 6 months news break. If something bad happens I'll know soon enough. I was on a long news break when 9/11 happened and then became compulsive about reading the news. I operate better when I pay attention to the things I can change instead of the things I can't

Just remember that Trump knew Matt Gaetz was a pervert and creep when he tried to appoint him.

I feel just fine about taking a break because I've spent most of my life being an advocate for marginalized people. Right now, I'm centering on addicts and the homeless and some very nice men who want to be better dads, husbands and humans. Ill be busy for a while.

Gayle! Have a marvelous time away from the news!! And THANK YOU for being a rebel and actually caring for the homeless and the poor addicts.

“… pay attention to the things I can change instead of the things I can't.” I’m on a news break too. Maybe my myopic blinders are a bit too dark…but it’s dark out there… and my rose colored glasses are uplifting and also self preservative. Cheers to our mental health.

So wise Gayle.

100% I am doubling down on where I can really be of service. And being very very judicious as to where I spend my money.

A lot I live in Florida. I do NOT want him running for governor or any public office again.

6 months ago, we moved out of FL. So happy to be back in NY State after 20 long years in FL!

I was just in FL for our annual pre-XMAS family party after none during the pandemic. It wasn't too bad but one SIL was going on about how handsome 45 is/was. I burst out laughing--the laugh you can't stop. She kept going and I finally said I have several brothers that are way better looking!!

I agree, Jamie —Another Floridian

Expand full comment

And by "get rid of" you mean....? How much for never having to hear his name again? Is there a place where they keep things like him, George Santos and (please God) Elon Musk?

Expand full comment

I'd pay a lot for 45 and Felon Musk to be dead. It would be wonderful to know that they were never again going to influence earthly affairs. I wish Felon would board one of his rockets and go to Mars He almost certainly wouldn't be coming back. The radiation that hits the ground there is deadly. If we ever send astronauts there for long periods they will have to live underground, and to never come above ground without their space suits on.

Expand full comment

Felon claims to want to colonize Mars. We would like him to be the first colonist there.

Expand full comment

I'd certainly love to see him colonize Mars, because noone is going to last long there. The radiation will quickly kill anyone who leaves the underground dwellings without a space suit on. The notion that terrestrial plants might grow on Mars is nonsense. Most of that planet is frigid for most of the Martian year (around 2 years), and it's unclear whether the cold or the radiation would kill plants more quickly, but I wouldn't expect them to last more than a day above ground.

Expand full comment

Plants as well as human beings can only live in compressed, thermally regulated and protected spaces on Mars bc the atmospheric pressure is very close to zero.

Still they(NASA) did fly a helicopter there!

Awesome!

Expand full comment

NASA has accomplished some amazing feats, including the one you cite! And don't forget the James Webb Space Telescope!

Expand full comment

Your information is consistent with impressions I have. And I ask myself, why is Felon pushing for this? Although not as smart as he thinks he is, Felon does have some grey cells; so, what gives? Before your dream of him suffering a miserable, horrible death comes true, I for one would like answers.

Expand full comment

I have no need for him to have a miserable death. I just want him gone from Earth, or incapacitated so as to be unable to further influence terrestrial affairs. As for why he's pushing for settlement of Mars, I think that's part of his grandiosity, and I find it interesting that he appears to be ignorant of the fate that would await anyone who tried to do so.

Among other things, he talks of terraforming Mars--as if simply repeating that mantra would make it possible for verdant forests to sprout on a planet that probably supports no life, with the possible but unlikely exception of microbial life.

I would further point out that his self-driving Teslas have been killing people, because that technology is far from perfect, but that he seems unconcerned.

It is all very stimulating, to be sure.

Haven't we already paid enough? 😒

Precisely, Linda!

Thing is, we shouldn't *have* to pay to get rid of this reprehensible man. He should have been pushed out of power by his worthless party.

That's for sure. Damn McConnell!

I want to say something about that bullet, but I don't really want my thoughts about it on the internet.

How much for never having to see photos of their faces?

I'd rather know that they were never again going to influence earthly affairs. I would not mind seeing photos of their faces if I knew that they were dead.

Gaetz is a symptom of a larger problem. There is no dividing fascism, it seems, from men commodifying women and exploiting women and girls. More than a few of the OG Nazis were also seriously into drugs. The problem is this untenable idea of a masculinity measured in how cruel men can be to other people. None fo these creepy MAGA men can manage to feel sated in their cruelty — they always crave me suffering of others.

I wish we could get men and boys to embrace models of masculinity that involve working to help others — there are plenty of noble real-life examples of what military medal ceremonies refer to as “gallantry.” Oh, for some gallant men! Gallantry in the military sense involves both nerve AND service to others, often at great expense to one’s own safety and well-being. Fire fighters are gallant. We need more men who will climb into burning buildings to save children, not men who rape children.

I love gallantry in men. I love men who stand for a coherent and honorable ethical code, even when to follow that code involves personal risk. I think of Alexander Vindman, as one simple example. I don’t know how we get men to really celebrate gallant men and to model themselves after them, but the only way Gaetz is not just gone but not followed by similar disgusting men is if men decide to shun such men and tell them to their faces how pathetic they are. Otherwise, America will always be a frat party where the last girl to leave gets raped.

I don’t think I’d pay anything. He is so stupid he slit his own throat which is all the more satisfying. I actually think someone manipulated the entire thing to get rid of him. Certainly not Trump because he is too stupid. But whoever got rid of him is a hero for getting a pedophile and repugnant human being out of our congress. He’ll still be lurking around but I’ve read republicans hate him so maybe he can open a strip club r something that suits him.

Not as much as I'd pay for Donald.

Whatever it takes to get him prosecuted. Didn't he have a buddy who was charged with the same stuff Matt was accused of doing? Since he was dumb enough to use Venmo for sex why can't they convince somebody to arrest and charge him? Release the report and lock the pervy pedo up!

Expand full comment

Aren’t we already paying Republicans to take out the trash? I say cut their pay until they start doing their job. And, like the nasty stinging weeds they are, the Matt Gaetzes of the world have a habit of clinging on to any surface where they can find purchase and somehow infesting everything.

Depends on what you are referring to in the phrase "take him out" there, my friend. Those are loaded words. Now if you are just referring to get him "out of government", that has been accomplished at least for the time being. He's young and the public seems to have a full-blown case of dementia in many cases. (I don't and the rest of you don't, but MAGA people seem to.) However, in January he gets a bully pulpit on OAN which will amplify his voice like Tucker Carlson's. That I find appalling. Too many of them have listened to him already (in addition to Hannity, Ingraham, Carlson, Carlson, MTG, Bannon, Gorka, Stephen Miller, and the list goes on and on. Plus, Gaetz is wealthy in his own right. His daddy is wealthy.

What would I like to see happen in a perfect world?

I'd like to see all the women that POS bring lawsuits against him for ruining their lives and win really big (in Florida no less-and I have a suggestion for an attorney.) I want them to hurt him really bad and in public. I want them to expose him in FEDERAL court because he was known to take them over state lines and over the boundary into international waters. When they do this, they would expose him to CRIMINAL charges and that opens a whole new can of worms for Gaetz and he knows it because he's an attorney.

How much would I pay? I'm broke, so all this is wishful thinking. In my perfect world, this would already be happening, of course, because it is the right thing to do. In my perfect world, that orange cancer and the malignant doughboy wouldn't be playing and planning more corruption with our government either, but here we are.

Would I pay more taxes to get rid of the entire lot of them? In the blink of an eye. Especially if guaranteed their prosecution and imprisonment for a suitable period of time coupled with the confiscation of their wealth. You bet I would. We could fund a lot of things just with Musk's ill-gotten gains, then move on to Ramaswamy's, and so on. In reality, the common people might not have to pay taxes again for the next couple hundred years. Ahhhhh, but I digress.

I don't know, E. Jean and company, but I'm open to suggestions.

And you GAVE some excellent suggestions, Ellen!

I’m hoping a strong SAG will bring charges against him. I’d pay to see him prosecuted in a STATE court.
