Fuck no. We will not shut up. We will not give in. we will not become the Handmaid's Tale (I don't want to be a Martha.) Also, I just got off Twitter/X (I had to because I was being trolled from morons who thought I was Karoline Leavitt, Trump's press secretary) and feel so much better. I'm at BlueSky now which seems friendlier, smarter, warmer. Join me there if you want!

I would say fuck no to the fuck no power, but I like math. There are way too many women who can take care of themselves now. I'm in favor of that.

That little twit reminds me of the Chatty Cathy doll. Pull a string & repetitive sentences come out. She has a script, sticks to it & I can't look or listen to her. God only knows what her job interview entailed...

No, not over. Delayed. On the back burner. Of course, voters are saying they voted Republican because of the economy. That's because they still know it's shameful to say they voted Republican because they're women-hating racists. But they are, including the women voters. They may think they're decent people. But if they voted for Trump they're racist and they're sexist. At the very least, they were willing to vote for a rapist and a racist.

We shall rise up and we shall overcome. But it's going to take time.

Agreed. I simply can’t believe that it’s over. The fight may need to evolve, but it’s not over!

Do not let them divide you! That is what oppressors and killers do. Look at Northern Ireland, Rwanda and Serbia where the politicians divided and dehumanized citizens, then chaos and murder ensued. Please do not let the orange menace and his cabal do that to your country.

We give up our power when we stop to listen to those jackasses. More importantly, we lose our power when we react to the garbage that they spew.

I didn’t spend my late adolescence getting beat up and tear gassed for peace to rest on my … umm … laurels at this age. I have granddaughters.

One of the funnier (and happily accurate) memes I've seen lately is:

So the "your body my choice" generation of young men is about to encounter the "I've been consuming truecrime at an insane rate for a decade and am confident I could disappear a body" generation of young women.

I'm still chuckling at this one. But I do think that young women today won't put up with the same sort of patriarchal nonsense that their predecessors have. Also, the overall trend is toward inclusion and progressive values. Over time, we win. This is a hiccup, but we still need to keep moving forward so that it is a small one.

A sunset in the distance. ...Now is a great time to keep an eye on the distant prize and our collective walk towards the greater good.... EVEN THOUGH these days are so frigging dark!!!

Makes me think about the nonsense that I put up with back in the time. And the a$$hole partner at a major NY law firm who interviewed me and asked "How do you think you can be a woman and a litigator at the same time?" I just kept my mouth shut and ignored the later job offer. Today, I'd have reported it to their HR, to my law school, etc. Thankfully I had much better options with firms who respected women.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Perhaps “me too” will not end but evolve to discuss and address all forms of sexual violence, which is way too pervasive in our country and around the world. Thank you.

I think we need to go beyond that and use our economic clout. Women make most of the purchasing decisions in US households. Hit the oligarchs in the wallet and they'll start to rethink what's good for their monetary interests. They think that selling us out for a tax break is in their financial interests. We need to show them the error of their ways.

I've mentioned Lysistrata in more than one comments section. (Thanks to my wonderful and beloved 5th grade teacher, the late Monica Feuermann Hughes, for giving us a great education in ancient Greek myths and legends.)

Absolutely not; some pundits and MAGA that push the mythical mandate trump is supposed to have, which he doesn’t - only wish it were so; we give up our power if we think we have none

I don't think it's DONE - I mean, look at Gisele Pelicot and the damning horrors that her case has uncovered. She is believed, and even if there are limits to how the law can punish her attackers, public opprobrium is meaningful.

I may be too optimistic, but I think of the ever-increasing size of the "basket of deplorables" is an extinction burst tantrum against social forces that are more powerful than the brittle power of old white men. Rebecca Traister's article in NY Magazine gave me a lot of hope: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/the-resistance-is-dead-long-live-the-resistance.html
