Cautionary note: in case things don't go well, nobody do anything drastic. The Bette Midler Instagram E. Jean showed us, where Bette'll drink champagne if Kams wins, but Drano if Scams wins... don't drink the Drano! Keep fighting. Peace.
Writing from Tasmania, like through the wrong end of a telescope, watching heart-fully, all I've got to say right here right now is: Thank you, Jean, for all you've done and all you've endured in this battle.
I am excited and thrilled and terrified and energized and swear I can actually feel the strength and warmth and fizzing rage like bubbles under the skin of all women in this country, in every form in which we exist, shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand. Let this not be the last time we fight together, but let it be the last time so much is at stake. Love you all.
I heard some (famous, white, male) political podcasters expressing surprise at recent Harris-leading poll numbers., unable to explain the switch from prior Trump plurality.
Then, different podcast, some women commenting on the same polls. They noted that abortion is on the ballot, literally in several states, and that where abortion is on the ballot, even if Trump won by a substantial margin last time, that is not happening this time. Men don't understand how important abortion might be to women voters. They just don't.
Oh, gawd, I sure understand! So many women are now dying or being grievously harmed due to Dobbs, due to the former guy for picking such reactionary Justices for the Supreme Court! Yes, women have more complicated reproductive systems than men, which makes them so much more vulnerable. I understand how important abortion should be to women voters, plus to the male voters who truly love and value their female relatives and friends, as well as the amazing woman who is running for President!
This is probably irrelevant to the conversation dear David your beautiful posts herein had me remembering- did you know that every part of the female anatomy is named after a male? Just saying equality and love NOW
(Several parts of female anatomy were historically named after male doctors, often the ones who “discovered” or first documented these structures. Here are some notable examples:
1. Fallopian Tubes - Named after Gabriele Falloppio, an Italian anatomist in the 16th century. These are the tubes that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus.
2. Grafenberg Spot (G-Spot) - Named after Ernst Gräfenberg, a German gynecologist who studied the area. It’s thought to be an erogenous zone located in the front wall of the vagina.
3. Bartholin’s Glands - Named after Caspar Bartholin the Younger, a Danish anatomist from the 17th century. These glands, located near the vaginal opening, produce lubrication.
4. Skene’s Glands - Named after Alexander Skene, a Scottish gynecologist. These glands, sometimes referred to as the female prostate, are located near the urethra and may play a role in female ejaculation.
5. Douglas Pouch (Cul-de-Sac) - Named after James Douglas, a Scottish anatomist. This is the space between the uterus and the rectum.
6. Müllerian Ducts - Named after Johann Müller, a German physiologist. These ducts are embryonic structures that develop into the female reproductive tract (fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and upper part of the vagina).
7. Hymen (disputed) - While not universally attributed to a specific anatomist, the term comes from Greek mythology but was popularized by male anatomists, despite varying cultural understandings of this tissue.
Some modern anatomists and feminist scholars advocate for renaming these structures to reflect their functions or anatomical position rather than the names of historical male figures, aligning with a more gender-neutral or descriptive anatomical terminology.
These were FANTASTIC! Thanks, E. Jean. I will spend the evening watching sitcoms, listening to music, etc. etc. and deal with whatever has happened in the morning. As a resident of PA, I think I've earned the right to unplug from this for an evening.
Seriously, I won't! I have PTSD from watching the returns in 2016! In 2020, I went to bed and had a wonderful night's sleep, then woke to the good news. That said, I don't like suspenseful movies, either. I'd give anything to be sure there'd be a Hollywood ending for this one.
Thank you so much for these E. Jean! I loved every single one. Cried and busted out laughing too! Heaven help us I hope it is a girl too!!!! Let's ROAR ladies!!!!!!
In the end, it’s always a woman that makes stuff happen. It only took centuries for America to figure that out. It feels like we kept sending men to shop and they kept bringing home generic cola and we’re finally going to get Coke.
I voted in honor of my mother.
I voted in defense of my granddaughter.
I voted out of respect for women because we are all worthy of that, whether we agree with each other or not.
“Women get more radical with age. One day an army of grey-haired women may quietly take over the Earth.”

Carpe diem, ladies.
And I wore my pearls and sneakers for good measure!
Awwww love it.
Love every word of what you just wrote, Kim B!!!

Not to worry! We've all been fighting longer and won't stop. Besides no way Bette drinks Korbel!!
HAR!!!!!!!!!
✊💙😎
Yeah, I noticed that too. Krug or Dom Perignon maybe. :D
Life is too short to drink cheap champagne.
And much too short to drink Drano! ;P
My refrigerator magnets:
1. LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR BAD WINE!
2. BUDGET THE LUXURIES FIRST!!
💜😊💙♥️
My favorite: Good luck, America . I hope it’s a girl!
My favorite too!
God, I’m watching msnbc, at 4:00. In PA, Temple Univ. The voting lines are ridiculous! Tons and tons of young women!!
I'm so glad to hear that as I know they're not voting for the orange horror!
I love this! I hope it’s a girl, too!
Yeah, me too.
Writing from Tasmania, like through the wrong end of a telescope, watching heart-fully, all I've got to say right here right now is: Thank you, Jean, for all you've done and all you've endured in this battle.
You know, Quammy, you are one of the extraordinary solderers of my life!
P.S. Say HELLO to the Tasmanian Devils from old E. Jean
And thank YOU, David, for your lifetime of work bringing us your unique perspective of our natural world!
(from E. Jean’s little sister)
Thank you for your support!

I can feel it too, Brynnetania!!!!!
And may your last statement ring out!!!!

That would certainly make sense to rename them for their functions, or anatomical position.
Right! Form follows function not tyranny❤️🔥
When Harris sweeps the vote today, we have the greatness of Joseph Biden to thank.

A Toast to the Unseen Hours
There he sits,
in the gentle light of a room heavy with history,
not with the stride of a conqueror,
but the quiet breath of a man
who has weathered his own storms.
This is the man who chose country over crown,
who rose each day with the sun,
not for the shimmer of titles or banners,
but for the lives that linger on his conscience,
like the stars over Delaware.
And we,
we stand here on the cusp of tomorrow,
hands folded in the pockets of gratitude,
watching as he lifts the weight of a nation
with the ease of someone who understands
the softness in strength, the calm in courage.
His legacy is not carved in marble
but in the threads of ordinary days—
the late-night vigils, the quiet hours of resolve,
the moments spent not in the glare of cameras,
but in the company of a relentless hope.
And now, as the light shifts softly,
he passes the torch, a flame held close,
to another hand steady with purpose—
a hand that will guide us forward,
through winding paths and uncharted lands,
toward that promised shore of freedom and democracy.
So here’s to him,
a man who walks among shadows,
yet holds a light that does not flicker,
a beacon for a weary land,
a compass guiding us home.
A big, big, big BIG thank you to Joe! As only you can capture, Gloria!
He’s my hero.
Yes
Yes
I feel good. I feel hopeful. I feel like everything will be okay.
This is a great day.

YES you have, Maria!! But ya know, you're gonna take a peak at around 11:15 tonight!

Hi to my beautiful Conflab family! This is such a glorious day!
I voted Blue down the ballot for my niece. I am filled with hope and faith.
Our future WILL be brighter! Thanks for being our fearless queen, E. Jean! XOXO
Thank you, Janie!!!
In the end, it’s always a woman that makes stuff happen. It only took centuries for America to figure that out. It feels like we kept sending men to shop and they kept bringing home generic cola and we’re finally going to get Coke.
I voted like my life depended on it because it does. WE ARE NOT GOING BACK, DAMMIT!!!!
Love this all-woman a cappella political song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QTdU9Zd1DU
Dang! That was great!
This is beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing the link. I am sharing it now too.
