The great courage of this woman to appear in court day after day and to look her rapists in the eye takes my breath away.

Yes, and she didn't need "b-lls", by the way, she had other qualities better than b-lls... :D

“Shame has traded places.” Truer words.

She was unbelievably brave! What courage and determination it took to allow everyone see the massive betrayal she suffered in a way that traditionally has led to women being blamed rather than men being convicted. I am so glad she was brave. I am a little bit braver for knowing about her.

Incredible what that woman endured. She is a beacon of courage.

She's brave beyond words. Too many perverts in the world doing damage to women and children. Now we have a Perv-In-Chief and he's surrounding himself with more pervs. I don't feel brave right now. I want to hide in the woods. I'll get my courage back, but i really feel sickened in my soul right now. Courage will return. Count on it.

It is gonna be a long haul. We can take turns being on front lines holding the courage while others step back to recharge. Teenager of the 60s, I have nothing to lose at this point. So courage carrying vessel I am!

And, we will go down fighting. And, we will draw strength from one another. We will hold on and support each other. When one of us needs that break the rest of will charge ahead.

I so love this woman! She could have insisted on anonymity but made sure the curtains were raised so people would know how depraved these men were. Betrayed by her “loving” husband.

She is a heroine. She is unbelievably brave. And so were and are you, Jean. You stood up for what is right.

I second that motion, Caroline!

This woman is a woman who should be enshrined as a hero. Instead of hiding, she wanted her story to be well publicized to demonstrate what monsters men can be. I have maintained since being sexually assaulted by my grandfather at age 11 and raped when I was 26 that 99% of all men is this world, if given the chance , revert to being fucking pigs. I have not changed my mind and I am almost 70 years old. They have not changed one bit. I see examples of it every single day and people just shrug. It infuriates me and now we have sexual predators everywhere in the US government. It is repugnant. The French banded together behind this lady and hopefully, they have been sufficiently repulsed to change their culture. I have no idea what would change the US culture. They disgust me.

I am 76 and yes, I could not agree more. I have a good husband - as long as I keep my boundaries up and use zero tolerance for creepy and hurtful behavior.

Sorry about your experience. Of course they don’t change… ever

Repugnant indeed.

Hopefully, the inarguable injustice and the courage Gisele showed in confronting it will shift the conversation in lasting ways.

And yes, in the US there is much so much work to do on our culture it can be hard to know where to begin.

And yes , the crimes against your person that you cite are truly horrible.

Unspeakable what was done to her. Her courage to let the world know about her pain will be uplifting to every rape victim.

GERMAN CHANCELLOR OLAF SCHOLZ

"Gisele Pelicot, you courageously went from anonymity to a public figure and fought for justice. You gave women around the world a strong voice. The shame always lies with the perpetrator."

--Only E. Jean could have said it better.

She is incredible! But what I can’t get over are the number of men who took part in the rapes and said nothing. NOTHING! At the start of the trial there were 50 who had been charged with 20 more still to be identified. The fact that some of her rapists claimed they thought they were only acting out the couple’s fantasy says even more about how men are raised to view sex and what they are taught is permissible. I applaud Gisele’s courage but am reminded again that Americans have chosen to ignore the criminal behavior of a convicted rapist and elect him to the highest office in our country. It is truly odious and depraved.

P.S. Thank you once again Auntie E for your courage and strength.

Several months ago my husband alerted me to this horror story he had read about in The Economist. It is a sickening story of utter betrayal and sociopathic behavior of her husband and random men. I admire this woman's courage beyond words. I hope she lives the rest of her life knowing the world honors her Brave Heart.
