A Good-Looking Chap

Dear  E. Jean:

I’ve been happy and single for two years now. I’ve recently met a great guy who is finishing his PhD at a top university in LA. I’m finishing my second degree in industrial design. He is very charming and good-looking, has ambition, but is currently living with his parents and is without a car. I support myself and live alone making OK money in another field while I transition to design professionally.

I’m 26 and he’s 32. I’m willing to overlook his current living/income situation because I really seem to click with him. He said he must economize since breaking up with his ex-fiancee about three years ago. After some online creeping, I found two arrest records during the time he was breaking it off with his fiancee, indicating “inflicting corporeal injury on spouse/cohabitant.”

Should I A) Cut ties now? B)Bring it up to him and ask what happened? or C) Proceed until I feel more obligated to sort it out. The relationship is new and there is a lot of unco…
